What is radio airplay?

  • Radio airplay means getting songs played on the radio and is often referred to as ‘radio plays’ or simply “spins”

  • Commercial radios are the most prominent, have larger audience and influence more than the "non commercial" with smaller market. When commercial radios start playing a song, it is more likely that the smaller ones will also follow.

  • There are two types of radio plays, Commercial Radio and Non-Commercial Radio


Why is radio requesting important?

  • Radio airplay makes up 30%-40% of Hot100.

  • The more unique requests, the more chances that Radio Stations will play the song.

  • More radio play means more radio points, thus a higher spot on Hot 100.
